Rain Poncho… How I Will Miss You

Wednesday’s blog was about the challenge my brother issued me:  not wearing a rain poncho or using an umbrella on my trip to Niagara Falls. To avoid being called a wuss, I accepted the challenge. So, I now face a weekend of sogginess which hopefully does not end with me being sick for finals week, which begins on Monday.

It has been funny to see all of the reactions from different people when they learn I am not wearing a rain poncho or using an umbrella on the trip. Some people are clearly unimpressed, most just call me crazy, my mother has taken it to a whole new level by contacting T.V. news stations, and Niagara Falls started following us on Twitter. This entire experience is really going to depend upon how many of the attractions at Niagara involve getting wet. So let’s take a look at what all Niagara Falls has to offer to its visitors.

I know that our multicultural group is purchasing an all access pass for the USA side of the falls at least. Using that pass we get to see the Cave of the winds, Goat Island, Luna Island, Prospect Point, Terrapin Point, go up on the Observation Tower, and of course, ride the Maid of the Mist up to the falls. The information on all of these can be seen here— http://www.niagara-usa.com/things-to-do/niagara-falls-state-parks.html

As of right now, my main concern is the Maid of the Mist boat ride. Its description on the Niagara website says that everyone who rides the boat and wears a poncho is “brave.” If people wearing rain gear and riding on the boat are brave, then what does that make me? The Cave of the Winds is another wet attraction, wearing no rain poncho is sure going to make this trip interesting.
